A coach is someone who tells you what you don't want to hear, who has you see what you don't want to see, so you can be who you have always known you could be." Tom Landry
No matter how good the relationship between a parent and their teenager, it is always a highly stressful conversation when the discussion begins about future plans and direction.
Hiring a success coach for kids can be an invaluable resource for parents who are unsure how to effectively motivate their children or find that their advice goes unheeded. Furthermore, coaching is essential as it helps children manage the constant stream of information they face, enabling them to build a positive foundation for their future.
It is also really difficult for a parent to be an effective “coach” when their child is seriously struggling to find their way. It’s too easy to fall back into unhelpful “parent to child” or “parent to teen” family dynamics. There is so much baggage and emotion involved in those relationships, now compounded with parental disappointment, impatience or frustration, and maybe resentment, embarrassment or shame on behalf of the young adult.
David Katz is a career counselor who has worked with numerous teenagers, helping them with college and technical school admissions, internships and employment. He has a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, as well as post-graduate degrees in Psychology and Organizational Psychology.
He has extensive experience in Talent Acquisition and recruiting, and has been an entrepreneur and small business owner.
His goal is to provide affordable services to parents looking to help their teenagers navigate the vast amount of complex information that is presented to them.
David is the author of Worrier: Fighting back: Adventures on the bumpy road to mental health which is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
"My husband and I also really appreciated the level of communication and support for parents that was provided throughout as well. We found this to be something very different and appreciated the feeling of teamwork throughout. The biggest reason we know the coaching worked, is that our daughter asked to continue her coaching beyond the original set of sessions. Highly recommend! "

“I really appreciate all the time and effort he put into coaching to provide me with the best possible experience. His program has been an incredible experience. Overall, my motivation and confidence are much higher which has a made a huge difference. Highly recommend this for any teenager trying to find their way.”

“The difference between this type of coaching and traditional therapy or counseling is that it is very practical in nature. We were interested in action-oriented techniques and information that can be applied effectively and efficiently, and David is excellent in achieving tangible results that help our teen to stay motivated.”

“Our son was in therapy, which he found helpful, but given that he was beginning another busy year of school courses and facing the college application process, I was interested in finding someone to provide him with the practical skills he needed to reach his academic and life goals. I also was hopeful that coaching could complement the work he was doing with his counselors and therapists.”

"David puts in so much work for us young adults to have a great life and teach us great habits to apply to our lives. You can feel the passion he has for this through all the sessions. In the 1-on-1 sessions, I have learned so much about myself and many new habits I can use on a daily basis. I always look forward to those calls every single week as I know I am going to learn something new.”

“My nephew is an international student at our local community college. English is not his first language, so I hired David to help him navigate the ESL process, as well as the college requirements. David exceeded all our expectations, meeting with his professors and administrators, finding him an English tutor, and helping him with setting goals and daily planning. Our nephew is much more confident and has an excellent relationship with David.”

Coaching requires neutrality. Family members often bring bias, emotions, or expectations that can hinder open communication and growth.
“Mentor coach” reflects a practical, guidance-based approach. We focus on real-world decision-making, skill-building, and support, especially for teens and young adults navigating early career and life steps.
No. Coaching focuses on future goals, motivation, and accountability. Therapy addresses mental health, emotional healing, and past experiences.
While schools offer general guidance, they often lack the time or specialized focus coaching provides. Our sessions are tailored, consistent, and action-oriented.

We offer a free consultation to explore your teen’s goals, challenges, and whether our approach is the right fit.
We respect that. Coaching only works with willing participation. We’ll never force it but can help you start the conversation.
We see strong results when there is engagement. Clients report better confidence, clearer direction, and improved communication within weeks.
Compared to long-term tutoring or therapy, coaching is affordable and goal-specific, offering high value in fewer sessions.
We aim to make coaching accessible. We keep overhead low and focus on meaningful impact rather than inflated pricing.
